Workers in the Seattle area make 23 percent more money than the average U.S. worker.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average worker in Seattle/Bellevue/Everett makes $26.25 per hour compared with the U.S. average of $21.35 per hour.
Managers make the most money in Seattle — $58.16 per hour — than any other group and are paid more than the U.S. average, which is $50.69 per hour.
The Seattle area also has a very high concentration of computer and mathematical jobs — 6.4 percent of all jobs — compared with the national average of 2.6 percent of all jobs. And those jobs paid better, too;$42.94 per hour compared with the national average of $37.13 per hour.
In the computer and mathematical job sector, computer and information research scientists made the most money, at $56.54 per hour.
The Seattle area had the eighth-highest concentration of computer and mathematical jobs in the U.S. out of more than 400 metro areas surveyed by the government.
The highest percentage of jobs in the Seattle area are in the office and administrative support category (15 percent of total employment), with those jobs paying $18.50 per hour, higher than the national average of $16.09.
